The British Open 2017 is not only a test for the best golfers

When Mark O’Meara, Chris Wood and Ryan Moore get British Open 2017 the tournament started by teeing off at 6:35 local time at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, it will be 1:35 a.m. ET.

Only the most avid golf fans will likely be up for the Golf Channel broadcast and willing to stay with it through the wee hours of the morning. However, those who do should see an excellent display at a golf tournament that regularly attracts the best players on the PGA Tour and the European Tour.

The Golf Channel will broadcast the opening round from British Open 2017 1:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, and it will do the same on Friday.

The Saturday broadcast schedule includes the Golf Channel taking the early shift from 4:30 a.m. until 7 a.m., with NBC taking over from 7 a.m. through 3 p.m. After a 90-minute break, NBC will return to the British Open for wrap-up coverage from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The tournament concludes Sunday, with the Golf Channel British Open 2017 broadcasting from 4 a.m. until 7 a.m. and NBC taking over from 7 a.m. until the conclusion, which is likely to come around 2 p.m.

Golf fans can also live-stream the British Open via the tournament’s website.

Henrik Stenson won last year’s British Open, but American golfers (Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson) have won two of the last four Open titles, and American golfers are likely to play a key role in the British Open.
